The Bishop Girls Broncos soccer team travel to take on the Rosamond Road Runners on Thursday January 30. With injuries and illness the Broncos came out slow. Alyssa Buchholz started the scoring in the first half when she received a pass from Ellie Crall. At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0. The Bishop Broncos came out in the second half and we’re able to control most of the half. Brooke Taylor scored two more goals Goal came from a long Leah Taylor throw in and the second goal came from a Sydney Norcross assist. The girls roadrunners had a very fast attack that the Bishop Defense had to contend with the entire game. The final score 3 to 0 in favor of the Bishop lady Broncos Player of the game goes to keeper Scarlett Buchholz. The Bishop lady Broncos will finish the regular season with two home games next week. Press Release On January 29, 2025, at 7:45 a.m., Mono County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Dispatch received a call regarding a house in Benton full of smoke and a non-responsive person inside. White Mountain Fire Department (WMFD) and MCSO Deputies were dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, WMFD and MCSO determined the fire had self-extinguished at some point during the night, and the person inside the house was clearly deceased. Based on the suspicious nature of the call for service, a crime scene was established, and State Fire Marshal arson investigators responded from Riverside. Further investigation is currently being conducted to gather more information and clarify the circumstances surrounding the case. This investigation aims to uncover any relevant details which would require further examination. Bishop Union High School girls soccer team took on the Mammoth Huskies for their second meeting of the season. The first game ended with a 1-0 win for Bishop when a cross from Brooke Taylor was deflected in by a Mammoth defender. This game Bishop had a slow start with the first goal being scored unassisted by Sydney Norcross at the 10 minute mark of the first half. Two more goals were scored by Bishop’s Brooke Taylor from Alyssa Buchholz and Ellie Crall assists. The first have ended with a 3-0 score for the Broncos. The second half produce five more goals. The first goal was scored by Katya Fierro, three from Brooke Taylor and one from Gabby Veenker. In the second half Ashley Sandoval had one assist and Alyssa Buchholz had two assist.
