June 30, 2025 ‘Ignite Adventure, Not Wildfire’ – Coordinated July 4 Wildfire Prevention Campaign Launches in the Eastern Sierra
With the Fourth of July holiday drawing thousands of visitors to the region, partners across Inyo and Mono counties are launching a shared wildfire prevention campaign urging the public to “Ignite Adventure, Not Wildfire.” The campaign is part of the Visitor Connection Package (VCP), a collaborative effort to deliver coordinated, region-wide messages that promote safety, stewardship, and sustainability on public lands and in gateway communities. According to the 2024 Inyo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan, July is the month with the highest number of wildfire ignitions in the county, making the holiday weekend a critical time for fire prevention outreach. “This is more than a safety message, it’s an invitation to connect,” said Kristen Pfeiler, Wildfire Coo...

President Trump Endorses Rep. Kiley Bill to Prevent Violent Riots
WASHINGTON – In response to the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) introduced the No Tax Dollars for Riots Act. The bill targets nonprofit organizations that are involved in organizing unlawful riots ineligible for federal funding or tax-exempt status. “We have learned that the horrific violence in Los Angeles was fueled by taxpayer dollars,” Rep. Kiley said. “This is absolutely unacceptable. I am grateful to President Trump for endorsing my bill, the No Tax Dollars for Riots Act, to assure this is not allowed to happen again.” In the wake of the Los Angeles riots, it has come to light that the nonprofit CHIRLA received $34 million in state funding. The group, which has previously campaigned to abolish ICE, played a pivotal role in enabling the riots by broadcasting the precise location of ICE operations in real time. The Judiciary Committee, which Congressman Kiley is a member of, has opene...

NIHD’s Board of Directors approved the plan during a Special Board meeting held Thursday, June 26. The Board strongly expressed support for the partnership from the outset. Rep. Kiley Calls on CIF to Comply with Department of Education’s Title IX Conditions
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Education has found that the California Interscholastic Federation’s (CIF) policy of allowing biological males to participate in sports with girls is in “clear violation” of Title IX. This comes after Rep. Kevin Kiley (CA-3) wrote a letter to CIF calling for an immediate reversal of the policy allowing biological males in girls’ sports. Rep. Kiley is sending a follow-up letter to the CIF calling for the state to immediately comply with the Department’s conditions to avoid a loss of federal funding. Those conditions are: - Prevent male athletes from participating with females
- Restore awards, records, and titles to female athletes that were misappropriated by male athletes.
- Issue a formal apology to those female athletes. “As I have repeatedly warned Governor Newsom, California’s policy is absurd and illegal,” Rep. Kiley said. “The state must immediatel...

***OP-ED*** Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil defends parents’ rights and children’s well-being in the fight for educational freedom AB 84 threatens to destroy California’s charter schools SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) is standing up for California families and defending educational freedom by strongly opposing Assembly Bill 84. The latest legislative overreach threatens to destroy charter schools, a lifeline for more than 700,000 students failed by the state’s broken public education system. In her new op-ed, Senator Alvarado-Gil highlights the urgent need to stop AB 84 and vows to defend parents’ rights to be involved in their child’s education: “If your child is enrolled in a California public school, there’s a two-in-three chance they can’t read or do math at grade level. According to the state’s own 2023 test scores, just 34.6% of students met math standards, and only 46.7% met English standards. Millions of children are being failed by a system that...

DEATH VALLEY, Calif. – A 46-year-old man from Death Valley died in a single-vehicle rollover in Death Valley National Park sometime before 5:30am on June 13. The accident occurred on CA-190 just east of North Highway. “It might surprise people that the leading cause of death in Death Valley National Park is vehicle accidents,” said Superintendent Mike Reynolds. “Sad events like this are too common.” This is the second fatal vehicle accident in the park this year. Kiley to Senate: Don't Mess With Our Public Lands VIDEO: Rep. Kiley opposes public land sales in House floor speech WASHINGTON - Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) spoke on the House Floor today with a simple message for the U.S. Senate: Don't mess with our public lands. In the Floor speech, Rep. Kiley warned that a proposed provision related to public land sales, or any similar proposal, would imperil the entire reconciliation package if it is included in the final version of the bill. Representing California’s Third District, a region known for its public lands, Rep. Kiley emphasized that these lands are vital to local communities. “Our beautiful public lands are essential to the character of our region, and I will fight to protect them in every way I can," Rep. Kiley said. "The will of our local communities cannot be subordinated to closed-door decisions in Washington. The Senate must drop any proposed land sales provision before sending the reconciliation bill back to the H...
