All due to a Northerly flow, which will bring freezing temps to parts of the Owens Valley thru the work week. By about Tuesday night there is a slight chance of snow in Mammoth (maybe a dusting) and really nothing to Aspendell. Your temps should moderate by the weekend...DMATT Area Wide Temperatures Today:   Bishop: 56 / 29 Big Pine: 56 / 32 Independence: 56 / 36 Lone Pine: 54 / 36 Olancha: 55 / 38 Mammoth Lakes: 46 / 29 Death Valley: 72 / 44 https://sierrawave.net/dennis-mattinson-sierra-atmospheric-forecaster-december-1st/

I’ve received a lot of questions about a supposed “toxic spill” in front of the Wayfinder Hotel. Just to clear things up — there was no toxic spill. Early this morning, there was a minor sewer issue, and the City of Bishop Public Works team handled it quickly and efficiently. Maybe a little unpleasant, sure, but nothing hazardous — no glowing green, no radioactive sludge, and sadly, no superhero powers gained. https://sierrawave.net/no-toxic-spill-in-bishop/

Area Forecast Discussion Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley Dennis Mattinson / Sierra Atmospheric Forecaster Synopsis - FRI NOV 28 2025 / SATURDAY THRU EARLY NEXT WEEK After a mild and dry Thanksgiving, you can expect more of the same thru the weekend. We will have a few clouds here and there, from a weak trough off the CA coast. Now as next week progresses, an Omega Block pattern develops. Yosemite National Park officials have issued a safety advisory after geologists detected a significant new fracture forming along a granite cliff face in a popular area of the park. While rockfall is a natural and ongoing process in Yosemite’s rugged terrain, experts say the size and rapid development of this particular crack warrants heightened caution. Park rangers have temporarily closed nearby trails and placed barriers to keep visitors at a safe distance while specialists monitor the formation. According to park staff, sensors and visual inspections indicate that a portion of the cliff could break away without warning. Officials urge visitors to obey posted signs, stay clear of restricted zones, and remain aware of their surroundings. Rockfall events in Yosemite happen every year, but early detection and public cooperation are key to preventing injuries. People want to explore and enjoy the park, but nature is constantly shifting here. Safety has to come first. The park will...

ACA Tax Credit Solution Bill Emerges with Most Bipartisan Support Reps. Kiley & Liccardo add three more cosponsors, including two Republicans, to the only bipartisan ACA tax credit extension that identifies the cuts needed to pay for it. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Mike Lawler (R-NY), Zach Nunn (R-IA), and Ro Khanna (D-CA) joined Representatives Kevin Kiley (R-CA) and Sam Liccardo (D-CA) in backing the Fix It Act, the only bipartisan proposal that extends ACA tax credits and pays for itself, which now has the broadest bipartisan coalition of any two-year extension of ACA tax credits. By cracking down on Medicare Advantage waste, capping eligibility while protecting working-class recipients, and halting insurance fraud by unscrupulous brokers, the Fix It Act would prevent 22 million Americans who rely on ACA tax credits from seeing a sudden spike in healthcare costs, without adding to our nation’s deficit. “Our bipartisan legislation will assure Americans are spared from a ma...

It is vital that we act quickly to prevent a massive increase in healthcare costs for 22 million Americans while also adopting reforms to control costs.” Rep. Kiley said. “As Rep. Liccardo and I have shown, there’s a real opportunity for a bipartisan agreement, and Congress must act quickly to get this done.
