Last night the Bishop Broncos had their last home game of the regular season against the Cal City Ravens who came in undefeated in league play. This was a really good game if you got the chance to see it or hear it on the radio. Both teams started out fast scoring back and forth and ended the first quarter with the broncos trailing 18-21. The seconds quarter the Ravens outscored the Broncos 17-7 thanks to Cassius Brown getting hot from the 3 and scoring 23 points in the first half. It felt like he couldn’t miss. The Ravens took a 38-25 lead into halftime.
The Broncos came out strong in the third quarter and chipped away at the lead outscoring the Ravens 17-13 in the third and cutting the lead to 9 going into the 4th. The Broncos also outscored the Ravins in the 4th quarter 17-8 and with 1.5 seconds and down by 2 Devaun Mitchell went to the free throw line and made two clutch free throws and was able to send the game to overtime. The Broncos carried that momentum into overtime getting defensive stops and being aggressive on offense, and were able to get to the free throw line. They outscored Cal City 9-2 in overtime and got a big win and ending the Ravens undefeated season on league play.
Leading the way in scoring was Emory Dondero with 20 points, Will Kemp followed with 13, Dom Dondero had 12 points, Devaun Mitchell had 10 points, Carlos Sualez had 7 points and Richie Talavera had 6.
This game was really physical and got really chippy throughout. The boys did a great job keeping their composure and staying focused on the game and not getting caught up in the crowd noise or the physical play. I am really proud of these boys for battling back from down 13 at the half. This was a huge win for us going into playoffs. We will find out later today who and where we play and that game will take place Friday. https://sierrawave.net/bishop-broncos-at-home-playing-cal-city-ravens/
