PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Sierra 7 Arts Alliance presents region-wide art exhibition launching in Inyo County
In a unique and ambitious project, C5 Studios Community Arts Center and Inyo Council for the Arts proudly present From Here to There; A Regional Touring Exhibition, an art show that quite literally puts Inyo County on the map. Opening on February 20th, 2026 in both venues in downtown Bishop, From Here to There; A Regional Touring Exhibition is the inaugural project of the Sierra 7 Arts Alliance, a collaborative network of arts organizations formed in 2025 serving the Central and Eastern Sierra region. From Here to There begins its regional tour in Inyo County on February 20th, before touring the region between March and September 2026.
A partnership between Arts and Culture Alpine County, Amador County Arts Council, C5 Studios Community Arts Center, Inyo Council for the Arts, Mariposa County Arts Council, Mono Arts Council, and Tuolumne County Arts Alliance, the Sierra Seven Arts Alliance is funded through Sierra Jobs First, a regional initiative working towards high-quality job growth, climate resilience, and economic prosperity in Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Inyo, Mariposa, Mono and Tuolumne counties.
Connecting to this state funding under the umbrella of “sustainable tourism and recreation”, this project recognizes the role that arts and cultural organizations have in diversifying tourism and shaping not only on the way that visitors to our region choose to recreate, but with regards to the level of connection, respect and care that they cultivate for these places. “By elevating cultural tourism we not only provide valuable alternatives to outdoor recreation which serve to lessen the environmental impact of recreation; we also have opportunities to share the cultural and artistic legacies and stories of the people who call this region home in order to deepen visitors’ understanding and appreciation of these places and the people who live here. Through the arts, we can create deeper connections with visitors and residents alike, and from connection comes greater care” explains C5 Studios Executive Director Naomi Hart Johnson, who spearheaded the project.
Following a call for submissions launched in October 2025, submissions were gathered from across the region reflecting perspectives and experiences of artists living in the seven participating counties. An impressive total of over 150 works of art were submitted, creating an interdisciplinary collection of pieces illuminating the landscapes, flora and fauna, people of this region of epic mountain peaks and rolling hills, connection to land and nature and strong rural communities. Through a robust review process, a total of 31 artists were selected with twelve of these being Inyo or Mono County-based artists.
Inyo County artists included in the show are: Nora Akino, Brittany Colt, Jael Hoffman, Jenny Kane, Carla Spencer Napoles, Paul Stone, Rodney Thompson, Steve White and Amy Wicks.
Mono County artists included are: Dana Ellis, Roberta Lagomarsini and Alyssa Marquez.
From Here to There offers participating artists a unique opportunity to have their work shown in multiple venues throughout the region, providing increased exposure to new audiences and communities while contributing to building a stronger, more connected cultural landscape for the Sierras and giving locals and visitors alike a glimpse into the hearts and minds of artists and creatives who call the Sierra region home.
On behalf of the Sierra 7 Arts Alliance, C5 Studios and Inyo Council for the Arts invites all community members to attend the opening reception event at C5 Studios Community Arts Center at 5.30pm on Friday, February 20th for a short presentation and toast to launch this exciting regional project and enjoy the show at its first locations on the tour.
