Re: WARN Notice

Dear ,

Pursuant to any possible obligation under the federal and California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Acts (collectively, “WARN”), we are writing to notify you that Searles Valley Minerals (“Searles”) is idling its Trona and Argus operations starting on April 8, 2026, resulting in the anticipated employment separation of 350+ employees. Employment separations are expected to occur on April 7, 2026, and they are expected to be permanent separations.

This notice is to inform you that it is reasonable to expect you may be affected and your employment ended on April 7, 2026. You will continue to receive any pay and benefits due until the separation of employment. Searles also intends to offer those affected a severance package in exchange for agreement to severance terms and a release of claims. We hope this 60-day notice period provides you with an opportunity to start looking for other employment.

Searles will work with the workforce development boards in both Kern County and San Bernadino County to coordinate support services. Local Workforce Development Boards and their partners help laid off workers find new jobs. Visit an America’s Job Center of California location near you. You can get help with your resume, practice interviewing, search for jobs, and more. You can also learn about training programs to help start a new career. The Kern/Inyo/Mono Consortium can be contacted at 661-336-6957 or www.kernaecl.org/contact/ , and the San Bernadino County Workforce Development Board can be contacted at 909-387-9862 or Info.workforce@eda.sbcounty.gov.

You may be eligible for CalFresh, California's food assistance program, which helps individuals and households purchase nutritious food. For more information about CalFresh, or to apply for benefits, please visit the CalFresh website at https://www.getcalfresh.org/ or call the CalFresh benefits helpline at 1-877-847-3663.

Separated employees are not permitted to displace remaining employees based on seniority or any other factor (i.e., there are no “bumping rights”). This information represents the best information available to Searles at the time this notice is issued.

For further information, please contact your manager or Human Resources at 760-372-2251 or email to HR@svminerals.com.
