A Major Winter Storm is on our doorstep (WSSI - Winter Storm Severity Index, shows major to extreme impacts possible). Winds ramp up early today and remain strong thru Friday. Sierra ridge gusts 100+ mph, with strong winds and blowing dust in the Owens Valley and Mono County (up to 60 mph). Prepare for heavy snow with blizzard conditions (Blizzard Warning Feb 29 - Mar 03) over the mountains and passes. Snow level estimates start at ~6K feet Friday, dropping down to ~3K feet Saturday night. Snow amount estimates: the communities along 395 in the Owens Valley 2 - 4 inches; Aspendell 12 - 24 inches; Mammoth Main and June Lakes 46 - 65 inches; the communities along 395 in Mono County 15 - 30 inches.
