Owens Valley / Mammoth / Mono County / Death Valley Dennis Mattinson / Eastern Sierra Forecaster Sierra Wave Media / KSRW-FM 92.5 Forecast Discussion - Fri Jul 19 2024 Heat will be the primary weather story thru the weekend into early next week. Heights aloft will build along an expansive upper ridge now over Nevada / CA. Temperatures in the Owens Valley will run around 103°. These conditions will result in Moderate Heat Risk throughout the area. The one difference with this heat wave from the one earlier this month, is the position of high pressure, allowing monsoonal moisture to filter into the area, particularly late weekend into early next week. Thunderstorm development then could limit daytime heating a bit, with cloud cover and precipitation influences. We will see how all this pans out.
