Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley 'that I am talking about near record high temperatures over the weekend, as October nears. Almost as crazy, that we will have above normal temps starting October and remaining the rest of the work week (still 93° in Bishop Thursday!). All due to a ridge of high pressure situated over the EPAC / Western US, which continues to gradually strengthen, recording 590 dm at 500 mb...DMATT

Signage Acknowledging Timbisha Shoshone Ordered Removed From Death Valley Exhibits Just days after Death Valley National Park issued a press release celebrating the shared history and long-term relationship between the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and Death Valley, the Trump administration has ordered the National Park Service to remove signage acknowledging the tribe from park exhibits. The directive instructs the National Park Service to remove or revise interpretive signage that recognizes the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe’s historical and ongoing connection to the land within Death Valley National Park.  Secretary’s Order 3431 directs federal land management agencies to conduct comparable audits of all content made available to the public. No Avalanche on Hwy 395; Chain Controls Causing Truck Turnarounds Mono County, CA — Rumors have been circulating that Highway 395 between Lee Vining and Mono City was closed due to an avalanche, with trucks being turned away. Authorities confirm that there is no avalanche in the area.
