Email vikki@bishopclimbers.org   Eastern Sierra historian David Woodruff brings to life William Mulholland, the dreamer, designer, builder, and despot behind the L.A. Aqueduct.   He was both despised and revered; while L.A. rose into a great metropolis, rural agricultural communities were left to wither.   Countering Mulholland’s opinions and narrative, Gayle Woodruff portrays a journalist.   This is the Eastern Sierra Water Wars at their best and worst https://sierrawave.net/water-wars-william-mulholland/

September 30, 2025 Press Release and Calendar Notice   Local Citizens Organize “NO KINGS 2.0” Rallies in Bishop, Lone Pine, and Mammoth Lakes on Saturday, October 18   In June, our Eastern Sierra communities came together and did what many would have claimed was impossible—we peacefully mobilized 840 local people in Bishop and 550 in Mammoth Lakes to rally, march, and declare with one voice, “America has No Kings.” And it mattered! We joined with the millions across America who took to the streets, and the world saw the power of the people.   Building on the momentum of these June events, local pro-democracy, pro-justice, and pro-environment organizers, working in cooperation with INYO350 and Coalition Mammoth, have planned three “NO KINGS 2.0” events in Inyo and Mono Counties on Saturday, October 18.   “NO KINGS is a peaceful national day of action,” Eastern Sierra resident and event volunteer leader Karyle Tong notes. “We will respond to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corr...

Before the closed session there were multiple public comments in support of Nate Greenberg, the Inyo County Administrator. Another resident, Mr. Lum also spoke in support of Greenberg, stating that it would be a mistake to let him go. Also, multiple county employees spoke in support of the Administrator. After public comment the board went behind doors to proceed with the closed session.   On return, after over an hour of being behind closed doors, the county council announced that no action was taken. Area Forecast Discussion Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley Dennis Mattinson / Sierra Atmospheric Forecaster Synopsis - FRI SEP 26 2025 After showers in places yesterday, today will be relatively dry. Although I still can't rule out a shower or two here and there. Then slight chances of showers return over the weekend (20 - 30%). Those showers then continue early next week, particularly over higher terrain, so light snow is possible about 10K feet. All this from the influence of trough over the PACNW. Inyo County Animal Shelter Thoughts   The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is aware of recent posts regarding our Animal Shelter and euthanized dogs. While we do not engage in online debates, we want to provide clarity. California’s Hayden Act (Food & Agricultural Code § 31108, § 31754, and § 17005) requires shelters to report overall adoption, transfer, and euthanasia numbers, but does not mandate disclosure of an individual animal’s medical history or specific reasons for euthanasia. Inyo County Animal Shelter works closely with outside agencies and rehabilitation facilities for animals, carefully exploring every possible avenue to achieve the best possible outcome. No one working in animal care wants to make the decision to euthanize an animal. Such decisions are only made after all options have been thoroughly considered and are taken with care, and only when necessary to prevent suffering or ensure community safety. Our priority is, and will continue to be, the well-being of the a...
