“It’s with great pleasure that, Toiyabe Indian Health Project Inc., Family Services Wellness and Recovery Department, in collaboration with Laughing Parrot Production and Sierra Lifeflight volunteers, bring a public service announcement about mental health, substance use disorder and overdose. The purpose of this production is to bring awareness on issues in our communities and resources, such as the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis hotline. Signage Acknowledging Timbisha Shoshone Ordered Removed From Death Valley Exhibits Just days after Death Valley National Park issued a press release celebrating the shared history and long-term relationship between the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and Death Valley, the Trump administration has ordered the National Park Service to remove signage acknowledging the tribe from park exhibits. The directive instructs the National Park Service to remove or revise interpretive signage that recognizes the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe’s historical and ongoing connection to the land within Death Valley National Park.  Secretary’s Order 3431 directs federal land management agencies to conduct comparable audits of all content made available to the public. The order applies to exhibits at locations including the Furnace Creek Visitor Center, where language acknowledging the tribe’s homeland and continued presence has been displayed for years. No Avalanche on Hwy 395; Chain Controls Causing Truck Turnarounds Mono County, CA — Rumors have been circulating that Highway 395 between Lee Vining and Mono City was closed due to an avalanche, with trucks being turned away. Authorities confirm that there is no avalanche in the area. The Bishop Branch of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) verified that trucks and other vehicles without chains are being turned around at both Lee Vining and Mono City. Chain controls are in effect due to winter weather conditions, which can make this stretch of highway slippery and hazardous. Motorists are urged to carry chains, obey chain control requirements, and drive cautiously. Attempting to bypass chain requirements is not only unsafe but can also result in fines and accidents.
