Traffic Advisory for the Week of 6/1/2026 to 6/5/2026


 

EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of June 1 – June 5.

 

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.

 


New Traffic Impacts


Eastern Kern County

 

·    Tehachapi Pass Sweeping – On State Route 58 from the junction of State Route 202 to Bealeville Road there will be intermittent lane closures as maintenance crews sweep the roadway in both directions on Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

 

Mono County

 

·    Hot Creek Vegetation Work – On U.S. 395 from Hot Creek Hatchery Road to Sawmill Cutoff the northbound and southbound shoulders will close as crews perform shoulder vegetation work on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

·    State Route 203 Restoration Work – On State Route 203 near U.S. 395 shoulders in both directions will be closed as crews perform vegetation restoration work on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

·    June Lake Utility Work – On State Route 158 just west of North Shore Road to just before Boulder Lodge there will be one-way traffic control as utility crews replace wires Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

·    Conway Ranch Utility Work – On U.S. 395 from Conway Ranch Road to Mill House Powerhouse Road there will be one-way traffic control as utility crews replace wires on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

·    Virginia Lakes Utility Work – On U.S. 395 from Virginia Lakes Road to the junction of State Route 167 there will be one-way traffic control as utility crews replace wires on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

 


Ongoing Traffic Impacts


 

Inyo County

 

·    Meadow Farms ADA Project – On the northbound lanes of U.S. 395, the outside lane and shoulder remain closed from the Bishop Creek Bridge to Barlow Lane while crews construct sidewalks, curbs, and gutter. Rocking W Drive should open next week as soon as the concrete is cured. The shoulders in both directions will intermittently close from Tu Su Lane to See Vee Lane while crews construct decorative light poles. All driveways remain accessible during construction. Bridge work over Bishop Creek will continue through the end of May. The speed limit within the work area is 25 mph. Work is scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

·    Bishop Pavement Project – Work on the Bishop Pavement Project is paused until May 30, and all lanes are open between Jay Street and See Vee Lane during this time. When crews return to work, the southbound outside lane and sidewalk of U.S. 395 between Academy Avenue and Line Street will close for sidewalk and drainage work. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph from See Vee Lane to Wye Road. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

·    Manzanar Pavement Project – On U.S. 395 from Fish Hatchery Road near the Fort Independence Reservation to 2.5 miles south of the Manzanar National Historic Site, crews are rehabilitating the pavement, constructing pedestrian bulbouts in Independence, and installing a flashing pedestrian beacon with a mast arm at Market Street. Northbound traffic will soon switch to the inside southbound lane using a temporary crossover about two miles south of Manzanar. One lane in each direction will close in town. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and 25 mph within Independence. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience delays.

·    Lone Pine Sidewalks Project – On U.S. 395 in Lone Pine, the outside lane and shoulders in both directions will close while crews build sidewalks in the following locations:

·    From Teya Road to Inyo Street,

·    From Locust Road to E. Lubken Avenue.

Work is scheduled Monday through Saturday, June 6, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

 

The Manzanar Pavement Project received $44.64 million, the Bishop Pavement Project received $18.36 million, the Meadow Farms ADA Project received $13.56 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change. The Manzanar Pavement Project received $5.78 million and the Bishop Pavement Project received $2.4 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1. SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
