Bishop Visitors Center A-frame

 It has been over a year since the City Council gave an eviction notice to our Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center and announced their intention to destroy the A-Frame building at the park. For over a year the Community has consistently showed support to save the Bishop Visitors Center A-frame and to return the Chamber and Visitors Center to the building. The City hired Wood Rodgers to get input from the public and to make a Park Master Plan. In their report they stated that they had found that "visitors services" at the park were important to the community. The City is now awaiting a CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) report from Helix on the building.


 After a year of public outcry it is up to the City to listen and represent the community and their wishes and make a plan for the restoration of the A-Frame Visitors Center! https://sierrawave.net/bishop-visitors-center-a-frame/

Signage Acknowledging Timbisha Shoshone Ordered Removed From Death Valley Exhibits Just days after Death Valley National Park issued a press release celebrating the shared history and long-term relationship between the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and Death Valley, the Trump administration has ordered the National Park Service to remove signage acknowledging the tribe from park exhibits. The directive instructs the National Park Service to remove or revise interpretive signage that recognizes the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe’s historical and ongoing connection to the land within Death Valley National Park.  Secretary’s Order 3431 directs federal land management agencies to conduct comparable audits of all content made available to the public.
